High school golf: LN Charter wins match at Irish Creek

KANNAPOLIS — Lake Norman Charter won Monday’s South Piedmont Conference golf match at the Club at Irish Creek.
It’s the fourth win for the Knights in six matches. East Rowan won the other two.
Medalist was Northwest Cabarrus’ Talan Harrison with a 33. West Rowan’s Samuel Faulkner had a great round and shot 34. East Rowan’s Brady McIntyre shot 35. Also on the leaderboard were LNC’s Tripp Burns (36) and South Rowan’s Dane Wheeler (37), Carson’s Jacob Rockwell (37) and Northwest’s Logan Swanger (37).
LNC shot 154 to win by three shots. Harrison led Northwest to a second-place team finish at 157. Next were South Rowan (161), East Rowan (162), Carson (169), West Rowan (180), Concord (192), Robinson (202) and Central Cabarrus (208).
South’s scorers were Wheeler, Cooper Welch (40), Carson Hurst (42) and Jadon Moore (42).
East’s scorers were McIntyre, Brody Benfield (40), Griffin Robbins (41) and Mason Mainville (46).
Carson’s second-best score was a 43 by Jonah Drye.
West’s second-best scored was a 45 by Cameron Kluttz.
