Monday games …

LANDIS — Avery Rawlings scored two goals to lead South Rowan to a 3-2 South Piedmont Conference win against Carson.

Sophie Steedley also scored for the Raiders (7-4, 5-4).

Assists were credited to Cailynn Withers, Ella Morgan and Chloe Tracy.

Lexlyth Sotelo and Allie Martin scored for Carson (8-6-1, 6-4-1).

Caylee Miracco had an assist for the Cougars.

SALISBURY — Olimpicos, goals scored directly from a corner kick, are quite rare in soccer, but Maddie Crabb accomplished the feat twice in Salisbury’s 4-0 Central Carolina Conference win against South Davidson.

Crabb was the first Hornet to score an olimpico since Lillie Rusher did it five years ago. The olimpicos were part of a hat trick for Crabb.

It was Senior Night for the Hornets (9-3, 5-3). They celebrated the careers of Maddie Griffith, Audrey Urbina, Danna Nunez Sanchez and Mariana Zapata. All four senior played the majority of the contest and performed very well.

Griffith scored the final goal of the contest.

Gabbi Fatovic provided the assist on Griffith’s goal.

Taylor Brown earned the shutout in goal.

“I’m really honored to be the coach of this team, of these players, and the seniors being recognized tonight,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said.  “We’ve had a very chaotic season.  We had almost no preseason, we’ve had more matches than legitimate practices, have suffered injuries, and had to have multiple lineup overhauls. Still, the girls fight. It might not always be pretty, but they battle to the end.”

The four seniors compiled a 49-13-6 overall record, including 31-11-2 in the Central Carolina Conference and a 12-0 record versus county opponents.

Next up for the Hornets is a vital CCC contest Wednesday night vs. East Davidson at 6 p.m.
