High school track and field: Carson distance runners compete at high level

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Carson’s boys and girls distance runners competed in the All America Track Classic held at Spring Valley High on Friday and Saturday.
Eric Gillis ran a 9:23 3200 meters, the second-best time in Carson history. Coach Zachary Marchinko still has the record.
Jorge Clemente-Garcia ran a season-best 9:38 in the 3200.
Kara Crotts ran a PR 5:32.21 in the mile.
Landis Sides, Fernando Vasquez-Castro, Devin Marnwenh, Duke Marnwenh, and Jack Smith had PRs.
Crotts ran a 2.33 800 meters, second-best time for girls in Carson history.
Julia Burleson ran a PR 2:44 in the event.
Chance Simmons ran a PR 2:15 800, while Landen Dudas ran 2:19.
