High school baseball: Mustangs get non-conference win

GRANITE QUARRY — East Rowan scored eight runs in the first inning and beat North Davidson 10-5 in Thursday’s non-conference baseball game at Staton Field.
East has scored double digits eight times in 11 games.
Tyler Hill (1-0) was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs (9-2). He struck out four in 4 1/3 innings. He got relief help from Logan Bradley, who worked two innings, and Braylen Ketchie.
Justin Mabe, a UNC recruit, hit a grand slam late in the contest for the Black Knights (1-9).
Krys Hernandez went 3-for-3 for East and is batting a team-best .553.
Harrison Ailshie had two hits and two RBIs. Mason Phelps had a double and drove in two.
Josiah Ninteau had two RBIs. Ketchie had two hits, including a double.
East hosts West Rowan on Friday in the biggest game of the season to this point.
