SALISBURY — Salisbury lost 3-0 to West Davidson, as the Hornets opened Central Carolina Conference play against the defending league champs.
Salisbury got excellent play from Audrey Urbina, Addie Griffith and Maddie Crabb.
“Coming off of spring break against a team like West Davidson is quite a task,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “We came out well and battled evenly for the first 20 to 25 minutes. West Davidson’s experience and tenacity started to wear us down in the waning moments of the first half, and they scored two goals in a period of six minutes. Despite the deficit, we battled throughout the entirety of the match. If we can ever get a modicum of consistency from our day to day or week to week schedule, we will really make significant strides. There were moments of real quality and glimpses of what we want to be as a team. We just have to have the chance to put it all together.”
Salisbury plays at South Davidson on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
