SALISBURY — The Salisbury Farmers Market transformed into a lively Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday, March 8, as Communities In Schools of Rowan (CIS Rowan) hosted its first annual Mardi Gras Block Party Fundraiser. The event brought together hundreds of community members, all gathered to support CIS Rowan’s mission of empowering students and families throughout Rowan County.

Attendees enjoyed a night filled with music, food, and community spirit while learning about the impact of CIS Rowan in local schools. Popular local radio personality Mz. Good Newz and DJ Bnice hosted the event, keeping the energy high with music and entertainment throughout the night.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the fundraiser featured a variety of local street vendors and food trucks, giving attendees a taste of Salisbury’s vibrant food scene. The market buzzed with excitement as families, friends, and supporters came together to celebrate and contribute to CIS Rowan’s vital work in schools and the community.

The success of the Mardi Gras Block Party was made possible thanks to the support of Rowan County Tourism, Target, Novant Health, White Rabbit Cocktail Parlour and Rowan Investment Group. Their sponsorship helped create an engaging and memorable experience while ensuring CIS Rowan can continue providing essential services to students and families.

“We are so grateful for the incredible turnout and support from our community,” said James Davis, the executive director of CIS Rowan. “This event raised important funds and highlighted our work to remove barriers and help students succeed. Seeing so many people come together for this cause was truly inspiring.”

With its first-year success, the Mardi Gras Block Party Fundraiser is set to become an annual tradition and grow even bigger in the years to come. CIS Rowan remains committed to connecting students with the resources they need to thrive, and events like this help sustain that mission.
