Salisbury police make significant narcotics arrest

SALISBURY — Following a comprehensive investigation and narcotics search warrant, Salisbury police have arrested 54-year-old Thaddeus Cedewa Rhames on drug charges.

Rhames was arrested after police searched 938 Fairmont Avenue and uncovered a significant quantity of illegal narcotics along with six firearms.

Rhames has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Felony possession of schedule I controlled substance (Ecstasy)
  • Felony possession of cocaine
  • Felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine
  • Felony possession of marijuana
  • Felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
  • Additional misdemeanor drug charges

Detectives also recovered various jars containing an unknown liquid substance and a substantial quantity of an unidentified powder. These substances have been sent for lab testing, and additional charges may follow, pending the results.

Rhames was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rowan County Detention Center, where he is being held under a $30,000 secured bond.
