NORFOLK, Va. — North Carolina Central’s women’s basketball team ended the season on Thursday with a loss in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Tournament.

The fifth-seeded Eagles (9-21) got killed on the boards and had 24 turnovers in a 57-48 loss to fourth-seeded Coppin State at The Scope.

Former Salisbury High star Kyla Bryant scored eight points.

Bryant made second team All-MEAC as a sophomore. She averaged 13.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. She was in the top 10 in the league in scoring and in the top five in free-throw percentage (77) and assists (97).

Bryant was a 31-percent 3-point shooter. She scored in double figures 19 times and posted six games with more than 20 points. She scored 32 against Maryland Eastern Shore.

NC Central played a brutal non-conference schedule early in the season but bounced back to have a respectable season. A young team is expected to be stronger next season.
