Staff report

Former North Rowan star Javon Hargrave is being signed to a two-year, $30 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

ESPN reports that the contact includes $19 million guaranteed.

Hargrave was released by the San Francisco 49ers, and the Vikings signed him on the first day players were eligible to be inked.

Minnesota also signed defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, former Washington Commander, to help the middle of their defense.

The 32-year old Hargrave, a two-time Pro Bowler, is coming off an injury-shortened season that required triceps surgery, but he’s just one year removed from posting seven sacks and eight tackles for loss during the 2023 season and only two years removed from an 11-sack season in 2022 for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hargrave is entering his 10th season in the NFL. The Vikings will be his fourth professional team. He was drafted in the third round by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of South Carolina State. He made the Pro Bowl with the Eagles (2021) and 49ers (2023)

Hargrave brings 45.5 career sacks and 55 career tackles for loss to a Vikings defense that has made a concerted effort to add size.
