My Turn: Playing partisan politics

This past week, the Democrats in D.C. exposed themselves as the party of hate. Their behavior during the president’s address to both houses of Congress revealed not only how disrespectful they are, but that they have no national pride. Their refusal to stand and show support for fellow Americans who have been through great difficulty made them look heartless. They spurned the 13-year-old boy battling cancer, and the American held prisoner in Russia whose release Trump negotiated. They showed no sympathy for the mothers whose daughters were murdered by illegal aliens. Their lack of compassion makes me wonder what happened to their souls. These are not left or right issues. This is Basic Humanity 101, and the D.C. Democrats flunked the test.

To add to their cruel behavior, Democrat Rep. Al Green of Texas intentionally made a spectacle of himself. Before a national television audience, as Trump was speaking, he stood up, waved his cane and screamed at the president about Medicaid. He refused to sit down and act like a civilized Congressman, despite Speaker Johnson’s warnings. He preferred the notoriety he received for such childish actions instead of going through the appropriate channels to discuss his concerns. Rep. Green looked foolish and irresponsible because of his lack of decorum. No one, regardless of party affiliation, has the right to such bad behavior. Rude behavior should be condemned, not encouraged by fellow elected officials. Period!

Two days later, a vote was taken by House members to censure Mr. Greene. To make matters worse than the night before, only 10 Democrats agreed that Mr. Green’s behavior was out of order. The other 198 supported Rep. Green by voting against his censure, including every Democrat Representative from our home state of N.C.! Would they vote the same way if there were an R in front of Greene’s name instead of a D? Call it what it is. This is pure, partisan politics.

In another display of hypocrisy, the Democrat women dressed in pink Tuesday night as a sign of defiance against Trump’s policies. They claimed, “Pink as a color of power and protest…He cost us too much … money, health, life and safety.” If they are so concerned about these women’s issues, then why did all of them, including men, vote against the “The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” the day before Trump’s speech? Sen. Tuberville, a former football coach at Auburn, obviously knows the physiological differences between males and females and the harm that can easily be inflicted upon the girls. For the third time, all Democrats voted against his bill. They called it,  “a distraction and a cynical political move.”

Oh, really?  Would they vote this way if their daughter had a permanent brain injury due to a biological boy slamming a volleyball into her head as was done to Peyton McNabb, from Murphy, N.C., two years ago? Trump recognized her Tuesday night as a prime example of why boys don’t belong in girls’ sports. But Democrats proved they don’t care. They can cry all they want about women’s health and safety. Their votes showed that their true motive was opposition to Trump. They prefer to let women’s sports be completely obliterated by boys who can’t make it on male teams. Too bad if our girls are subjected to injury, and suffer angst as they are forced to undress in front of boys!

Can it get any worse? Yes! Last May, as a WCU student, Peyton entered a ladies’ bathroom on campus and found a biological man there. Because she asked, “Why are you here?” Peyton was kicked out of her sorority for violating the sorority’s “Anti-Bullying Policy” and engaging in “Moral-Prejudicial Conduct.” Parents, are you OK with this? Has the UNC Board of Governors been notified of this injustice? Why isn’t there a backlash across our state for such indecent activity in our universities?

The truth is that D.C. Democrats hate Trump so much they are incapable of voting wisely for the good of our citizens. Until they overcome their Trump Derangement Systems, they should stay seated and be quiet. It’s time they put Americans first, not party loyalty.
