Monday and Tuesday games …

SOFTBALL

MOUNT ULLA — Arabelle Shulenburger pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts as West Rowan beat Concord 6-0 in South Piedmont Conference action on Tuesday.

It was a tight game until the Falcons scored four runs in the sixth.

The Falcons (4-2, 4-0) got homers from Reese Poole, Riley Haggas and Raney Phelps.

Shulenburger had a double. Taylor Keller drove in a run.

LANDIS – Freshman Cressley Patterson hit a three-run, walk-off homer to give South Rowan a 4-3 non-conference win against Cannon School on Monday.

South scored a run in the first — Patterson got the RBI — but didn’t score again until the seventh.

South’s freshman pitcher Remington Hagerty kept the 1-0 lead until the sixth when Cannon School scored three times.

Hagerty allowed five hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Leisha Carter and Avery Fisher were on base frequently for the Raiders with three walks each. Carter scored twice. Danica Krieg had a double.

• The Raiders had another exciting win on Tuesday, as they built a big lead and held off Central Cabarrus 10-9 in South Piedmont Conference play.

Carmen Thomas had a triple and three RBIs. Krieg had a double and two RBIs. Fisher had two RBIs. Patterson had two doubles and scored twice. Hagerty hung in there and pitched a complete game.

GOLF

CHINA GROVE — Salisbury shot 147 and was second in a non-conference match at Warrior on Tuesday.

John McCoy shot 34 to lead the Hornets. Jackson Sparger (36), Bo Brincefield (37) and Jacob Trainor (40) were the other scorers for the Hornets.

 

BASEBALL

SPENCER — North Rowan took a doubleheader from South Davidson in Central Carolina Conference play on Monday.

In a 12-4 victory, the Cavaliers (3-3, 2-0) got a double and a triple from Zane Smith. Smith, Zion Gillespie and Ethan Prange had three hits.

Caleb Everett had three RBIs. Chase Cauble scored three runs. Smith, Cauble and Dylan Garrigus drove in two apiece.

Cauble pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts.

• In an 11-10 win, Prange went 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs. Everett had a triple and drove in three. Gillespie had two doubles. Cauble had three hits and scored three runs.

Anders Thompson and Everett got the job done on the mound.

LANDIS — Matthew Overcash pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as South Rowan pounded Central Cabarrus 10-0 in six innings in South Piedmont Conference action on Tuesday.

Conner Coy, Macon Fuller and Marshal Faw had two hits and two runs scored for the Raiders. Fuller had a triple. Coy had a double. Faw stole two bases.

Brandon Winkler walked three times for the Raiders .

South (5-1, 4-1)  had eight hits and eight walks, and the Vikings (2-4, 1-3) made five errors.

CHINA GROVE — Kendal Sifford struck out nine and pitched a two-hitter to lead Carson to a 3-1 South Piedmont Conference win against Robinson on Tuesday.

Carson (2-4, 2-3) scored two decisive runs in the fourth inning to get past the Bulldogs (2-5, 0-5).

Corbin Hales had two hits. Ryan Snider had a double. Snyder and Jayden Goff had RBIs.

MOUNT ULLA — Brant Graham struck out 10 and pitched a complete game as West Rowan smashed Concord 11-1 in six innings on Tuesday in South Piedmont Conference play.

Cole Blevins had two hits and scored four runs for the Falcons (6-1, 4-1). Brice Knox went 3-for-3 with a double and knocked in two. Carter Durant had three hits and three RBIs. Brody Pope knocked in two. Maddox Moore had two hits.

CONCORD – East Rowan banged out six doubles and beat Cox Mill 15-6 in a non-conference game on Tuesday.

Sam Blackwelder led the onslaught by the Mustangs (5-2) with two doubles and five RBIs. Also rapping doubles were Keaton Walker, Harrison Ailshie, Krys Hernandez and Hunter Goodman. Mason Phelps drove in three runs. Walker knocked in two.

East had 13 hits, with Hernandez, Ailshie and Phelps getting three each.

Walker was credited with the win. Phelps and Andrew Myrick also pitched for the Mustangs.

Lake Norman Charter beat Northwest Cabarrus 10-6 on Tuesday and leads the SPC with a 5-0 record. West Rowan, South Rowan and East Rowan have lost one league game.
