High school baseball: Falcons, Raiders roll

THOMASVILLE — West Rowan demolished Northwest Guilford 11-0 in a non-conference game played at Finch Field.

The Falcons (5-1) scored six runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth in the five-inning game.

Chase Fisher, a Pfeiffer recruit, and Brant Graham combined on the shutout. Fisher struck out four and allowed one hit in three innings. Graham allowed one hit in two innings.

Blevins hit a home run, while Ben Koontz, Maddox Moore and Brice Knox socked doubles.

Lead-off man Moore went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Knox went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Blevins drove in three.

Brody Pope had two hits. Eli Graham and Koontz scored twice.

KANNAPOLIS — South Rowan pounded Concord 14-4 at Atrium Health Ballpark.

Concord scored four times in the first, but South (4-1) turned things around with an eight-run second inning.

Corbin Goodman, Rhyne Keller and Drew Pegram pitched. Keller shut out the Spiders in the third and fourth.

Pfeiffer recruit Conner Coy stayed hot at the plate with three hits. Pegram had two hits. Coy, Pegram and Davis Kemp had doubles.

Coy scored three runs. Kemp, Pegram and Matthew Overcash drove in two each.

KANNAPOLIS — Salisbury lost 12-1 to Northwest Cabarrus at Atrium Health Ballpark. Evan Koontz, Hank Webb and Landon Tucker pitched for the Hornets (0-4).

KANNAPOLIS — Central Cabarrus scored nine runs in the first inning and held off A.L. Brown 12-8 at Atrium Health Ballpark.

Carson Fink and Connor Dowd had three hits each for the Vikings.
