More than eight months ago, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into ongoing activities at 660 Sides Road in the county.
According to public information officer Captain Mark McDaniel, the department has executed a number of search warrants and consent searches since July of 2024 related to a number of criminal offenses, including the overdose of a child on fentanyl, a shooting that grazed a resident in the head and sale of narcotics.
On March 4, the Criminal Apprehension Team (SOCAT) again got a complaint from a community member about the sale of narcotics at the property and assertions that the criminal activity was escalating.
As a result, deputies got a search warrant and a full compliment of investigators executed the warrant Tuesday afternoon. During the search a total of 5.12 grams of fentanyl, 1.31 grams of methamphetamine, 7.67 grams of MDMA (also known as Ecstasy or Molly), and various drug paraphernalia items were seized.
The department has been working with the state’s Nuisance Abatement Process for several months on this residence. If successful, this process will allow the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office to potentially control occupancy of the property, or even the seizure and/or sale of the property.
The following individuals were charged and taken into custody Tuesday:
Jonathan Cory Yarbrough was charged with possession with intent to sell or distribute fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for sale of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $200,000;
Katlyn Nicole Sellers was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to sell or distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or distribute MDMA (Ecstasy), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $300,000;
Jerry Lane Harwood Jr. was charged with possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $10,000;
Tawana Mackenzie Lynch was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $8,000.
