MOORESVILLE — A traffic stop by Iredell County Sheriff’s deputies over the weekend ended in arrests on drug and firearms charges, including two Cleveland residents, according to a release.
On Saturday, March 1, Sgt. Hodges of the ICSD stopped a car at the intersection of Mazeppa Road and Ricks Lane for a motor vehicle violation. Hodges spoke with the driver, Brian Thomas Miller, 41, of Statesville, and passengers Chelsea Nicole Millsaps, 33, of Cleveland, and Lane Alexander Perry, 31, of Cleveland. As they talked, Sgt. A.W. Foster arrived to assist, allowing Hodges to give his police K9, Levi, a chance to conduct a “free-air sniff” around the vehicle. Levi gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics, prompting deputies to search the vehicle.
Deputies discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, a concealed firearm and various drug paraphernalia items. They also discovered that Millsaps had tried to conceal a large quantity of methamphetamine, approximately 29.23 grams, on her person.
A records check confirmed that both Millsaps and Perry are convicted felons and legally prohibited from possessing firearms. Hodges arrested all three individuals and transported them to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they were charged with multiple offenses.
Sheriff Darren Campbell said the following charges were entered:
Millsaps: felony trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, felony trafficking methamphetamine by transport, felony possession the intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Perry: felony trafficking methamphetamine by possession, felony trafficking methamphetamine by transport, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Magistrate S. Johnson set Millsap’s bond at $500,000 secured, Perry was held without bond due to already being out on bond, and Miller received a $250,000 secured bond.
