SALISBURY — Mission Saturday, a ministry conducted at Salem Lutheran Church, is just around the corner.

The event is held the second Saturday of each month at the church located at 5080 Sherrills Ford Road, Salisbury.

In a previous article, Ernie Sheldon, pastor of the local congregation, said their goal is to have a different recipient of the monthly Mission Saturday donations; however, he added, they may repeat one of the recipients depending on need.

This month, the community is encouraged to join them in collecting toiletries for the North American Lutheran Church to provide disaster response health kits for those in need. Items can be brought to the church on March 8 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Beth Lewis, a member of the church’s mission team, said that collection bins will also be available in the church narthex and that items can be brought during worship service hours as well.

A list of items that would be appreciated for the health bags, but those donating are not limited to, include toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, deodorant, hand sanitizer, soap, bath towels, wash clothes, shampoo, conditioner, brushes/combs and nail clippers.

Th Facebook page also shared that the health kits would be assembled that day as well.

On the church’s Facebook page, it was also noted they are collecting Bibles, which can be new or used, child, teen or adult, Spanish or large print along with Bible stories for children and prayer books.
