SALISBURY — A 45-year-old Salisbury man has been arrested on charges of exploitation of a minor following an investigation by Salisbury police.

Police were able to obtain a search warrant Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, for the man’s home in the 500 block of Wesley Drive as part of an ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) case that the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Division started investigating earlier that day. Police and Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies went to the home about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night and were on the scene for several hours.

The search produced enough evidence that officers charged Thomas Dale Thumpert with two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor and one count of indecent liberties with a child. Victims in the case, according to police, are juveniles. In order to protect the victims, no additional details are being released to the public.

Thumpert is now in the Rowan County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
