RPL to host local schooling options event

The Rowan Public Library Headquarters in Salisbury is hosting a partnership with Salisbury Academy, Yadkin Path Montessori, Living Faith Tutorials and other local schools for “Get Schooled: Exploring Education Options in Rowan County.”

The program is an opportunity for local parents and caregivers to learn more about the different schooling options available to their children and families as Rowan County citizens. It takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. RPL is located at 201 W. Fisher Street, Salisbury.

“This program will be a great way to get citizens face-to-face with real representatives who can answer specific schooling questions in a no-pressure environment,” said Amanda Brill, RPL’s young adult librarian and “Get Schooled” coordinator.

Parents and caregivers will have the chance to meet dozens of school representatives from the local homeschooling association, private schools, charter schools and public schools.

“Since 2022, this program has grown from focusing mainly on alternative educational options like homeschooling and charter schools to showcasing all the options available for students in Rowan County,” said Brill. “The library partners with Rowan-Salisbury Schools all throughout the year, so including them in this program was a natural step forward.”

Programs like “Get Schooled: Exploring Education Options” allow RPL to continue to serve the community, introduce the public to local resources, and connect people to the information they need to make sound decisions for their children’s educational pathways.

“The biggest change for Get Schooled this year will be hosting it in February instead of June,” said Brill. “School representatives and I believe we can reach a wider audience by offering the program before the current school year ends. This way, parents and families have more time to make the best decision about education for their students.”

This event is free and open to the public in the Stanback Auditorium at Rowan Public Library in Salisbury. Interested participants can email Amanda at Amanda.Brill@rowancountync.gov or call 704-216-8268 for more information about the event.
