GRANITE QUARRY — At about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, firefighters in Granite Quarry received a report that a row of portable toilets on a construction site on Julian Road was on fire.
Initially callers said the fire was close to the building, but when the first firefighters arrived on the scene, they made it clear the fire was “nowhere near the building.”
In addition, it was just one unit that was on fire, and by the department’s arrival, was completely destroyed.
“We have a puddle of melted plastic here,” reported one firefighter, who then asked how the requested mutual aid should be handled.
“It melted down to about six inches,” said Granite Quarry police chief Todd Taylor. “And fortunately no there was no threat to the building and no one was injured.”
