College men’s basketball: Robinson leads Indians to tight home win

SALISBURY — Kris Robinson made four 3-pointers and scored 24 points to lead the Catawba Indians to a South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball victory against Limestone on Thursday.

Catawba won an 83-80 thriller that came down to the last shot — a missed 3-pointer by the Saints. Zion McDuffie secured the rebound as time expired.

Robinson made a layup for an 81-78 lead and hit two free throws with eight seconds left to provide that 83-80 edge.

Both teams played at a high level. Limestone (10-15, 7-14) shot 50 percent with 10 turnovers. Catawba shot 51 percent with 10 turnovers.

Catawba (15-10, 12-9) made nine 3-pointers, shooting 45 percent from the bonus line.

Nick Walker scored 13 for the Indians. Justin Banks had 11.

Sirr Hughes scored 26 for the Saints. He was 14-for-18 on free throws.

Catawba is 11-3 at home.
