LEXINGTON — Lexington’s girls basketball team backed up its first ever conference regular-season championship by adding the Central Carolina Conference Tournament title on Tuesday.

The top-seeded Yellow Jackets led 28-11 at halftime and won easily against a cold-shooting Salisbury squad. Salisbury’s scoring leader all season. Torese Evans, was held to three points, and there aren’t a lot of people they can beat when she scores three.

Both teams made one 3-pointer. Lexington outscored the Hornets 24-6 from the foul line.

Janiyah Fomond (9 points), Keaira Spruill (7) and Jaliyah McNeely (6) scored above their season averages for the third-seeded Hornets (13-10).

Makayla Bobo scored 15 to lead the Yellow Jackets (20-4), who beat Salisbury for the third time.

The Hornets will join Lexington in the 2A West playoff bracket.
