Staff report

SALISBURY — Livingstone’s women’s basketball team defended like pit bulls on Saturday, but their shooting touches deserted them in a 57-49 loss to Fayetteville State, one of the CIAA’s top teams.

Livingstone (9-16, 7-7) shot a frightful 22.2 percent from the field at New Trent Gym in front of 332 supporters and was 4-for-26 from the 3-point line. That wasn’t going to get it done against the Broncos (17-7, 12-3).

Fayetteville State shot 31.7 percent.

Morgan Kelson led the Blue Bears with 18 points.
