EMORY, Va. — Catawba senior forward Janiya Foskey has been hot for weeks, and she’s been automatic as far as delivering 20 points.
But Saturday’s trip to Emory & Henry brought a whole new level for her. She wasn’t just hot. She was molten. She was volcanic. She was burning and boiling.
Foskey scored 38, obviously a career high, to lead an 84-70 South Atlantic Conference road victory against Emory & Henry.
It’s a game that Catawba (15-9, 13-7) was supposed to win, but you can’t take any road game for granted in the SAC. Foskey didn’t. She shot 16-for-24 to blow up the scoreboard and had 12 rebounds.
The Indians trailed 43-42 at halftime, but took charge in the second half. They shot 49 percent for the game and limited their turnovers to 11.
Mary Spry (Carson) had another good game. She’s a high-percentage shooter and a difference-maker when she’s healthy. She scored 17 on 7-for-10 shooting and had seven rebounds. Nala Baker made three 3-pointers and scored 15.
Breanna Yarber scored 22 for the Wasps (7-20, 2-19) with 387 fans in attendance at the King Center.
Catawba 26 16 24 18 — 84
Emory & Henry 25 18 15 12 — 70
CATAWBA scoring — Foskey 38, Spry 17, Baker 15, Janus 5, Goodlett 4, Williams 3, Dixon-Booker 2.
