College men’s basketball: Livingstone falls to Broncos

SALISBURY — Livingstone’s men’s basketball team was in good shape at halftime, but Fayetteville State showed why it’s one of the CIAA’s better teams in the second half.

The Broncos scored 48 in the second half and beat Livingstone 78-69 on Saturday at New Trent Gym.

Ezekiel Cannady and Caleb Simmons combined for 47 points for the Broncos (20-6, 12-3).

Teon Tiller scored 14 for the Blue Bears (12-14, 4-10). James Nipper had 12, while Jamal Cannady Jr. added 11.

King Ijeoma accounted for half of Livingstone’s eight blocked shots.

Fayetteville State shot 45 percent, went 17-for-19 from the foul line and made only 10 turnovers in a solid outing.

Livingstone shot 39 percent with 15 turnovers.
