“What’s Love Got to Do with It” returns

SALISBURY — The Men’s Council of Trinity Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. will host its Valentine’s Day celebration on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Trinity is located at 300 South Caldwell Street in Salisbury.
The theme “What’s Love Got to Do with It” is based on the three-time Grammy-award-winning songstress Tina Turner’s rendition, which reached No. 1 on the 1984 Billboard Charts for 20 weeks and earned a platinum record.
Performers who are schedules to highlight this year’s event are listed:
Elder Sylvia Moore will present the meaning of What’s Love Got to Do with it.
Chris Robinson, a Navy veteran and leader of the Jazz Cowboys from Raleigh will perform.
Robinson is the son of the late Jackie Robinson. Robinson and his mother Judy Robinson are members are members of Trinity. As a solo artist he plays jazz, gospel and classical music on piano.
The Phoenix Readers, a local theater group founded in 2015, will make a return to the program after a successful appearance last year. The theme of this year’s presentation will be “Love is in the Air.” Written and directed by Ray Davis, a former teacher in the Rowan-Salisbury School System.
Keith Holland, a local pianist and singer who serves as music director at Jerusalem Baptist Church in East Spencer will render a variety of selections of musically and vocally.
A special tribute as been planned to honor Men’s Council President/Elder George Miller for his devoted services to the church and Men’s Council.
Ticket prices are $10 per person or two for $15 in advance. All tickets will be $10 at the door per person.
Trinity was founded in 1867 as Church Street Presbyterian Church in Salisbury. Rev. Robert Moore serves as acting pastor of the church. Rev. Sidney Wilkens serves as music director.
