Press release from Kannapolis Cannon Ballers
KANNAPOLIS — In celebration of the long-standing relationship between Towel City and the Southside, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers have announced yet another new alternate uniform, with this one inspired by their MLB affiliate, the Chicago White Sox.
The brand-new jersey and hat combination is a nod to the White Sox, mirroring Chicago’s home white jersey with black pinstripes. The stylized “KCB” on the front left lapel is meant to resemble the “Sox” logo that can be found on Chicago’s home caps and jerseys.
Shifting from their standard colors of red, white and blue, the Ballers will change it up with a black cap with white letters that match the “KCB” on their jersey. The front logo features a gray outline, meant to call back to the White Sox City Connect uniforms that debuted in 2021.
Numerous White Sox players making an impact at Rate Field have also spent time in Kannapolis. Top arms RHP Jonathan Cannon and RHP Davis Martin each have pitched in Towel City at one point, with other superstars like OF Luis Robert and INF Bryan Ramos making their names known in Towel City over the last seven years. As of release, 10 players on the White Sox 40-man roster and two of Chicago’s six top 100 prospects in baseball have spent some time in Kannapolis.
With the introduction of the new Sox-inspired uniforms, it is the first time since 2019 that a Kannapolis baseball team has had a pinstriped jersey and pants combination in their regular mix of threads. The Intimidators home whites featured pinstripes to resemble their top affiliate since the White Sox affiliation began in 2001.
The new jersey and hat combination will be worn exclusively on Southside Sundays at Atrium Health Ballpark. Special concession items themed around Chicago and the White Sox will also be a part of Southside Sundays for fans to enjoy.
