Tuesday games …
CHINA GROVE — Carson had some fun, making 16 3-pointers as the Cougars celebrated seniors Jonah Drye and Corbin Hales and smashed South Rowan 77-43.
“Jonah and Corbin have been great for our program,” Carson head coach Brian Perry said.
Drye made eight 3-pointers for 24 points, with five bombs in the first quarter. Hales made a 3-pointer in the third quarter. Drye added seven assists.
It was over quickly. Carson led 23-7 early and by 47-11 at halftime.
“Jonah stayed hot, and that’s the thing about our team,” Perry said. “We’ve got four guys that take 11 or 12 shots a game, and they’ve all had a 30-point game, but when someone has the hot hand, everyone looks for them. Guys got the ball to him. That’s what makes this a fun team to coach.”
CP Perry had what may have been the first triple-double in program history with 13 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.
“CP was super-active,” Coach Perry said. “We may have had a triple-double before. I know guys like Jailen Williams or Javon Smith came close, but it has slipped my mind if anyone ever got one. CP is getting healthier, so he can give us more of those. Jonah being so hot helped his assist total.”
Jacob Mills is as steady as it gets, made two 3s and scored 17 points. Maverick Walters made two 3s and had one of his best games with 10 points.
“Maverick is getting to be a better rebounder,” Coach Perry said. “Just wish we’d had him all season, but he’s really helped us.”
It was a quiet scoring night for Drew Neve — six points — but the Cougars will need the 6-foot-5 sophomore to play loud on Friday at Northwest Cabarrus. It will be Senior Night for the Trojans who lost to Carson in China Grove.
While Drye roared past 900 career points in style and Perry probably made school history, the biggest thing for the Cougars was the easy win moved Carson (16-7, 10-5) into a four-way tie for second place with Concord, Northwest Cabarrus and Central Cabarrus in the hyper-competitive South Piedmont Conference.
“I think if you’re playing anyone in the top seven in our league, you can get beat if you’re not at your best.” Perry said.
South (1-21, 0-15) played its best in the third quarter when it put up 20 points.
Jadon Moore made three 3-pointers and scored 19 to lead the Raiders. Brycen Burris made two 3s.
Senior Night for the Raiders is against Lake Norman Charter on Friday. That will be South’s last game, as the Raiders won’t be in the SPC Tournament.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan beat East Rowan for the third time this season, but West coach Dadrian Cuthbertson wasn’t thrilled with his team’s performance.
“Shot the ball terrible,” Cuthbertson said.
East coach Trey Ledbetter watched his team have a shooting night that was somewhat worse than terrible.
At least the Falcons (8-14, 6-10) made five 3-pointers in the South Piedmont Conference matchup. East made one.
“Had great looks, couldn’t throw it in the ocean,” Ledbetter said. “Shot a lot of 3s and we made one. Played well defensively and rebounded well. Had a lot of deflections. I liked the effort, but the ball has to fall to win, and they made a few more than us.”
Ja’mih Tucker had one of his best games and led the Falcons with 15 points. He got nine in the third quarter to help stop an East comeback attempt from a 25-12 halftime deficit.
Evan Kennedy scored 11, while Josiah Young had 10. Jalen Moten made two of West’s 3s and scored eight.
Jaden Reid, a tough, athletic rebounder, scored 15 for the Mustangs (2-20, 2-12). Brady Ailshie scored 13 and made the Mustangs’ only 3-pointer in the third quarter.
West is right back at it on Wednesday, as North Rowan visits.
East plays at A.L. Brown on Wednesday and host Robinson on Friday.

SPENCER — North Rowan still had hopes of sharing the Central Carolina Conference championship, but a 66-60 Senior Night loss to Lexington put those dreams to bed.
“Just a really poor shooting night,” North head coach Jason Causby said. “Not our best effort.”
North (14-8, 9-2) made only two 3-pointers and went 12-for-26 on free throws. That didn’t get the job done against a good Lexington team the Cavaliers had thumped 89-71 on the road very recently.
Lexington (12-9, 8-3) got the early jump on the Cavaliers and led 18-9 after the first quarter.
Jaylen Henderson led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points. He hit two 3-pointers and he made four clutch free throws in the fourth quarter.
Rozelle Ewart scored 18 for Lexington. Andre Gyabaah had 15.
Enari Russell had 17 points and five assists for the Cavaliers. JP Polk had 14 points and eight rebounds.
Dyzarious Carpenter was slowed by illness recently, but scored 12. Carter Williams had eight points, nine rebounds and five steals.
North still has two big games left this week, as it will go to West Rowan on Wednesday before heading to Salisbury on Friday.
Lexington 18 14 18 16 — 66
North Rowan 9 18 17 16 — 60
Lexington — Henderson 20, Ewart 18, Gyaabah 15, Wood 5, Parker 2, Holmes 2, Weeks 2, McDonald 2.
North Rowan — Russell 17, Polk 14, D. Carpenter 12, Williams 8, Feamster 7, Tarver 2.
