Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church celebrates Black History Month

SALISBURY — Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church will observe Black History Month with several programs throughout February.
The national theme, “African Americans and Labor,” is the focus and will be shared each Sunday with a “Moment of Reflection.”
“Tuesday Movie Nights at the Chapel” will be held each Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Movies and documentaries highlighting historical events will be shown. The movie will be followed by a review and Q&A segment.
Livingstone College Day will be held on Sunday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Vergel L. Lattimore, alumnus of Livingstone College and president of Hood Theological Seminary as the guest preacher. Community leader and entrepreneur Lovie B. Reid Sr. will be honored during the service for his many contributions to the Salisbury and Rowan County area.
Family and Friends Day will be on Feb. 23 with the morning service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Robert N. Kelley Jr., delivering the message. A fellowship dinner will follow the morning service. The afternoon service will be at 3 p.m. and the guest preacher will be Rev. Henrico White, pastor of Weeping Willow AME Zion Church in Charlotte.
