Friday games …
LEXINGTON — The Lexington Yellow Jackets came out fired up and on fire and took a 6-0 lead against Salisbury’s boys basketball team in a hurry.
That was a strong early punch, and a crowd that does not care for the Hornets was going crazy, but once Salisbury settled in, it was no contest.
Myles Smith threw down eight dunks, and the Hornets put six in double figures to win 84-63. It was 64-35 after three quarters, but Lexington scored a bunch after it no longer mattered much.
The Hornets (19-3, 11-0) won their 18th game in a row. They also own a 34-game winning streak in the Central Carolina Conference.
Smith finished with 23 points, including three second-quarter jams as the Hornets opened up a 40-23 halftime lead. Braylon Taylor, who got the Hornets on the board with a free throw, made four 3-pointers and scored 21. The junior had his 10th game with at least 20 points and surpassed 700 for his career.
Salisbury got 10 each from Macari House, Hank Webb, Blake Smith and Bryce Dalton. Webb and Dalton did all of their scoring in the second half.
Salisbury eviscerated Lexington 75-42 in January, but the Yellow Jackets are quite a bit better now.
Lexington (11-9, 7-3) plays at North Rowan on Tuesday.
Salisbury 16 24 24 20 — 84
Lexington 11 12 12 28 — 63
SALISBURY scoring – M. Smith 23, Taylor 21, House 10, Webb 10, Dalton 10, B. Smith 10.

TYRO — North Rowan has been playing really well lately, but took a step back at West Davidson.
The Cavaliers experienced a dismal shooting night on Crim Court, going 0-fer from the 3-point line and 50 percent from the foul line, but they got enough layups and stick-backs to beat the Green Dragons 56-32.
The last-place team in the Central Carolina Conference, West Davidson outscored North in the second quarter to cut North’s lead to nine at the half, but the Cavaliers picked it up some in the third quarter.
West Davidson (2-20, 0-10) was led by Mason Miller with eight points. West Davidson is 48th out of 51 teams in the 2A West RPI rankings.
The bright spot for North was JP Polk. He had 21 points and 16 rebounds and has 55 points in his last three games. He surpassed 700 career points.
Jo Jo Tarver made eight steals.
Emari Russell added 13 points for the Cavaliers (14-7, 9-1). They have a big week ahead, starting with a visit from Lexington on Tuesday.

West Davidson 2 12 8 10 — 32
