SALISBURY — Each month, The Forum of Salisbury honors one classified and one licensed employee as “The Forum of Salisbury Employees of the Month” for the Rowan-Salisbury School System. These staff members are nominated by students and parents, and the winners receive $250, a six-month membership to The Forum, and a 5-class pass for SoFul Yoga and Wellness at Railwalk.

Certified Staff Member of the Month:

Paula Henry, a 4th grade teacher at Overton Elementary School, is The Forum of Salisbury Certified Employee of the Month for January.

The parent who nominated Henry wrote: “(Ms. Henry) is a phenomenal teacher, who encourages and pushes my daughter daily. She calls out her strengths, as well as encourages her to believe in herself. The fact that she has come to this country to educate our youth, living in a different culture, away from family, and doing it so well, just blows my mind. I know my daughter is loved and safe with her, while growing academically.”

Classified Staff Member of the Month:

Velma Knox, a custodian and traffic director at Hurley Elementary School, is The Forum of Salisbury Certified Employee of the Month.

The parent who nominated Knox wrote: “Mrs Knox is there before anyone else in the morning and takes care of everything to get the school ready for the day. She stands out by the road to direct the cars into the parking lot so that everyone can drop their children off. She goes all day long trying to keep everything running smoothly, caring for everyone’s children as they walk by her in the Halls. Ms Knox stands out by the road every evening to make sure everyone’s children make it home safely. She’s a great lady and deserves to be recognized.”
