SALISBURY — Actions in Faith & Justice continues the Focus on Food Security Series with Come to the Table’s “The Root Causes of Food Insecurity” Workshop.
Come to the Table is a program of RAFI-USA, a nonprofit based in Pittsboro. The event is hosted by First Presbyterian Church’s Race and Justice Ministry Team. The workshop focuses on understanding the systemic nature of food insecurity. It shows how faith communities can actively work to address the root causes of food insecurity by uncovering and engaging challenges within the food system. It demonstrates why faith communities in particular should be involved in addressing them. RAFI is an international organization that challenges the root causes of unjust food systems, supporting and advocating for economically, racially, and ecologically just farm communities.
It’s Come to the Table program empowers faith communities to participate in the creation of a just food system through collaboration, capacity building, and advocacy. refi- usa.org The workshop takes place on Feb. 11, from 6-8:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 308 W. Fisher Street, Salisbury. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
