Jeremy Lane Parham, 39, of Mooresville and Kendra Bunton Hood, 47, of China Grove were arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Jan 24.

According to a press release, deputies responded to 985 Linwood Road for a welfare check on a vehicle with an unconscious driver and passenger. Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle abandoned in a field behind a gate. Concerned citizens in the area reported that two individuals had exited the vehicle and walked into the woods.

Deputies initiated a search and successfully located the individuals at 151 Brawley Woods Lane. They were identified as Parham and Hood. Upon making contact, deputies immediately observed clear signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, unsteady movements and delayed responses.

As the investigation continued, deputies discovered a small red jewelry box abandoned at the location where Parham and Hood were first approached. Inside the box, they found multiple colored, rock-like substances, which later tested positive for 1.94 grams of fentanyl.

During questioning, Parham admitted the substances were fentanyl and stated he had obtained them from a dealer. Both individuals were charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Both are being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
