High school swimming: Gray Stone boys wins regional, girls 2nd

GREENSBORO — Gray Stone’s boys swim team won the 1A/2A Central Regional held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Knights were strong in the relays, taking second in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay and third in the 400 free relay. Relay points count double.

Lnndon Cord had a third-place finish for the Knights in the 50 freestyle, while Brody Campbell had a third in the 100 backstroke.

The meet scored 16 places.

Salisbury scored two points for 16th in the 400 free relay. That team was Jackson Sparger, Mac Blankenship, Taki Cook and Sawyer Burton.

North Rowan scored two points for Rylan Furr’s 15th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

Gray Stone’s girls scored 221 points and finished second to Bishop McGuinness in the regional.

Gray Stone won the 200 free relay in 1:46.81 with Piper Campbell, Sofia Martinez, Saylor Vitale and Zoey Waters.

Campbell had a fourth place in the 200 free, while Vitale had a fourth in the 100 breaststroke for the Knight’s best individual finishes.

Gray Stone was third in the 200 medley relay and seventh in the 400 free relay.
