SALISBURY — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has announced the appointment of Jeanie Moore and Mark Whitley to the Board of Directors for the Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation.

Both Moore and Whitley bring decades of experience and leadership in their respective fields and will play vital roles in advancing the foundation’s mission to support Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and its students.

Moore brings a wealth of experience in workforce development, higher education and community engagement to the board. A former senior administrator at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Moore worked at the college from 1977 to 2014 in various capacities, ranging from adjunct faculty to supervisory roles in Advancement, Grants and Workforce Development.

“Rowan-Cabarrus has always held a special place in my heart,” said Moore. “I am excited to return in this capacity to support the college’s efforts in empowering students and fostering economic development.”

She played a pivotal role in developing programs to support displaced workers during the historic closure of Pillowtex, helping to drive economic recovery efforts in Rowan and Cabarrus counties. Moore also led the College’s Re-employment Bridge Institute, which provided effective workforce transition strategies for communities across North Carolina. Her expertise in program development, collaboration and advocacy will be instrumental in furthering the foundation’s goals.

Whitley is the senior vice president and managing director at Pinnacle Financial Partners, where he serves as a financial advisor with Pinnacle Asset Management. With over two decades of experience in financial planning and investment management, Whitley has held leadership roles with Wells Fargo Advisors and Merrill Lynch. His extensive background in financial services equips him with the expertise to help guide the Foundation’s fiscal strategy and strengthen its fundraising efforts. In addition to his professional achievements, Whitley serves on the board of The Afton Foundation, further demonstrating his commitment to community development and civic engagement.

“I am honored to join the Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation Board of Directors,” said Whitley. “The foundation’s work is vital to creating opportunities for students and supporting workforce development in our region, and I look forward to contributing to its mission.”

The foundation board of directors oversees the Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation, which raises and manages funds to support the work and mission of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Board members work to secure resources such as corporate investments, private grants, alumni and employee contributions, and financial and in-kind support from the community.

“Mark Whitley and Jeanie Moore bring invaluable expertise and a deep understanding of our community’s needs,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “Their contributions will help us strengthen our partnerships and expand opportunities for our students.”

The Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation plays a critical role in helping the college meet its instructional and institutional needs, enhancing access to quality and affordable education.
