SALISBURY — The Terrie Hess Child Advocacy Center (THCAC) just announced the opening of its new therapy services facility, Robin’s Loft at Terrie Hess Child Advocacy Center, located at 229 Mocksville Avenue.

The grand opening is scheduled for April and this expanded center will provide much-needed mental health therapy services for children in Rowan County. The facility is named in honor of Robin Shue, a beloved long-time THCAC employee who passed away in 2022, whose dedication and passion for helping children left a lasting impact on the organization and the community.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Food Lion Feeds Foundation, the new center will feature the Food Lion Feeds Kid’s Kitchen, a dedicated space where children will have access to, and will learn to prepare easy, nutritious meals. This innovative program is designed to empower children with skills for healthy living while promoting confidence and independence.

The new facility will also house ArtBeat, THCAC’s new arts-based therapy program, which allows children to express themselves through various art forms as they process their emotions. In addition, the Triple P Parenting Program, which offers support and guidance to parents, will be offered at the new center, strengthening families and contributing to the overall healing process.

The center’s expanded space will provide a safe, welcoming environment for children and  families, offering a range of therapeutic services. THCAC is deeply grateful for the support from Food Lion Feeds Foundation, Novant Health, and Fred and Alice Stanback, whose generosity has been instrumental in making this project a reality by providing half of the funds needed for the $380,000 project.

“Expanding mental health services at the Terrie Hess Child Advocacy Center is a crucial step in empowering children to heal, grow and thrive,” Executive Director of THCAC Shawn Edman said. “By providing specialized support, we can break the cycle of trauma and give young minds the resources they need to build a brighter, healthier future.”

Carrol Fisher Construction Company has been a valuable partner in the creation of this new facility, ensuring that it is built to meet the needs of the community for years to come.

Donations to support the remaining funds needed for the new therapy facility and its programs are being accepted and can be sent to:
