SALISBURY — Salisbury survived an overtime battle at home with Community School of Davidson and won 72-65 on Wednesday.
The Hornets (3-3) appeared to be in great shape after three quarters, leading 49-37, but the Spartans (2-4) made a run in the fourth quarter and tied the game at 60-all in the final seconds of regulation.
Salisbury had a 12-5 edge in the overtime session to get the win.
Braylon Taylor led the Hornets with 21 points. Myles Smith scored 19, and Hank Webb scored 15, one shy of his career high.

TYRO — Winless East Rowan and West Davidson boys basketball teams squared off on Crim Court on Wednesday.
West Davidson (1-5) is no longer winless. The Green Dragons held on for a 37-32 victory.
East (0-5) had a terrible time getting started against West Davidson’s 2-3 zone and was down 6-0 after three minutes and behind 12-3 after the first quarter.
Brody Thomas scored seven straight points for the Mustangs to turn a 15-3 deficit into 15-10. West Davidson led 22-12 at the half.
East trailed by as many as 13 in the third quarter, but got back within 31-22 heading to the fourth.
Freshman Brady Ailshie made a 3-pointer from the top to get East within six points, and East got as close as 34-32 with a minute to go when Logan Bradley made a runner in the lane.
East had chances, but couldn’t score again, and West Davidson made three free throws down the stretch.
Thomas scored 16 to lead the Mustangs, while Ailshie had eight. East made four 3-pointers. Thomas and Ailshie accounted for two each.

LANDIS — South Rowan played very well for a quarter against non-conference opponent Mount Pleasant on Wednesday, but the Tigers pushed to a 14-point halftime lead and blew out the Raiders when they ran out of gas in the second half.
The last six minutes were played with a running clock. The Tigers won 83-49 behind 29 points by Cooper Perkins.
South (0-7) led 5-0 at the outset on deep shots by Jadon Moore and Corbin Goodman, with Brooks Overcash and Moore getting assists.
South’s last lead was at 11-9, but the Tigers had a 9-0 run to take an 18-11 edge. Overcash scored to cut South’s deficit to 18-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Carter Rohletter made two 3-pointers in the second quarter for the Raiders, but Mount Pleasant (3-4) had a 25-point quarter to take a 43-29 halftime lead.
The Tigers scored the first eight points of the second half to put away the Raiders, and they put together another 8-0 run to begin the fourth quarter.

SPENCER — North Rowan won its road opener by 60 points, but struggled in Wednesday’s home non-conference game against Central Davidson.
The Spartans got 17 points from Eli Tysinger, 14 from Marcus Bush and 11 from Carson Hulsizer and beat the Cavaliers 67-48.
Central Davidson (3-3) led 36-22 at the break, and the cold-shooting Cavaliers (1-1) couldn’t make a run in the second half.
Emari Russell scored 24 points to lead North. He made four 3-pointers, but he was the only Cavalier who made one. Central Davidson made nine 3s.
JP Polk had seven rebounds for the Cavaliers.
