Union Lutheran hosts homecoming speaker honoring 250th anniversary

Union Lutheran Church announced that it plans to host Rev. Dr. Daniel W. Selbo as the speaker for the church’s 250th anniversary homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 10:15 a.m.
The celebration will feature preservice prelude music, followed by worship and Holy Communion at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Invite family, friends and former members now or this special occasion. It should be a wonderful time to renew old relationships, update what is going on in the lives of others and to form new relationships. Plan now to be a part of the 250th anniversary celebration.
The Rev. Dr. Daniel W. Selbo
The bishop of the North American Lutheran Church serves as the chief spiritual leader and pastor for pastors and congregations. The bishop is responsible for preaching the Gospel, administering the Sacraments, forgiving sins and judging doctrine (Augsburg Confession XXVIII). This role involves extensive visitation throughout the church, defending the faith and promoting the church’s mission. The bishop’s ministry is central to maintaining theological integrity and fostering spiritual growth within the NALC.
Selbo has been married for over three decades. He and his wife, Mary, have been blessed with four children and several grandchildren. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. He received a master’s degree in divinity degree in 1986 and earned the ministry doctorate in biblical preaching in 2013, both from Luther Seminary.
He enjoys golfing, fishing, working in the yard and spending time with family and friends.
