Agriculture ranks among one of the most hazardous industries.

On Aug. 22, Rowan County Extension, along with several partners, is hosting a Farm Safety Awareness Day. The event will be held at the Piedmont Research Station, located at 8530 Sherrills Ford Road, Salisbury.

Registration will be from 7:15 -7:45 a.m. Welcome will start at 7:45 a.m.

The morning topics will include grain bin extractions, overturn tractor and tractor implement safety. After lunch, there will be sessions on being prepared for an emergency and basic first aid, such as calling 911, bee stings, heat exhaustion/heat stroke, stop the bleed and CPR.
