GRANITE QUARRY — The Granite Quarry Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing about amending the town’s development ordinances regarding food trucks during its upcoming meeting on Monday.
The ordinance change would increase the frequency limit for food trucks from 30 per year to 104 annual visits at any one location within the town’s jurisdiction.
The change was recommended to the board by the town’s planning board during their meeting on Nov. 5. According to the minutes from that meeting, the change was initiated by planning staff to reduce the restrictions on food trucks visiting the town for events.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday and will be held at the Granite Quarry Town Hall, located at 143 N. Salisbury Ave. The other agenda items that will be discussed include:
- The board will hold a public hearing regarding a rezoning request from Wittenberg Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church is requesting that two parcels totaling 0.58 acres be rezoned from Residential Main Street Transitional to Civic, which would give the two parcels the same zoning as another property the church owns. All three properties are located near the intersection of North Main Street and West Bank Street
- The board will hold the bi-annual review of the board’s rule of procedures. The rules of procedure govern the aspects of the monthly board meetings, such as public comment periods, voting and allowing remote viewership.
- The board will hear a presentation on the steps the town must go through to modify the city charters.
- The board will consider a proclamation announcing the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day for the town.
