SALISBURY — The winter 2024 edition of Salisbury the Magazine is now available. The latest issue explores the fruition of a dream built by a team of dedicated educational professionals.

Maggie Blackwell’s “What we had was passion: A dream team builds Partners In Learning” chronicles Partners In Learning’s quest to expand its Rowan County footprint to include a 22,000-square-foot facility on Martin Luther King Avenue. Partners In Learning is a childcare center serving 205 children daily and 235 weekly with clinical services ranging from developmental delay to autism.

Another story, “Two-Wheeled Tour” by Aaron Stevenson, explores a father and son’s cross-country motorcycle trip. Aaron Stevenson and his son Micah journaled throughout the trek as they explored nearly untouched regions of the United States from the Badlands to Big Sky Country. At times, going days without interaction with other humans, the two adventurers discovered much about America and themselves.

Elizabeth Cook takes you “Through the pages of time” as Christian Reid Book Club celebrates its 125th anniversary. Meanwhile, “Reviving soul” visits David Garling and Frank Labagnara’s restoration of the Murphy-Murdoch House.

Maggie Blackwell’s Rowan Original profiles Novant Health Rowan Medical Center President and CEO Gary Blabon from his life to his work at the Salisbury-based hospital facility.
