SALISBURY — Don’t believe in UFOs or aliens? You might just be forced to rethink your stance on that. While the vast majority of “sightings” and “alien contacts” are scientifically explainable, there remains a significant number that aren’t. Even U. S. government officials have finally admitted some incidents simply stump them. And did you know North Carolina is one of the states with the most reports, including several right here in Salisbury?

The English-Speaking Union will be hosting two renowned experts who will regale us about the latest research in this field, supported by videos and sketches. David Glidewell has been the N.C. state director, and Sev Tok is the assistant state director, of MUFON — the Mutual UFO Network — the oldest and largest organization, with chapters worldwide, that has investigated thousands of reports throughout the years.

Glidewell received science degrees from the University of Tennessee and Central Michigan University, and served in the U.S. Army as an air defender where he became proficient at aircraft recognition. He later worked in program and budget analysis, with a specialty in operations research systems analysis, for Headquarters, Department of the Army in the Pentagon, and was a highly skilled database administrator.

Tok came to the U.S. from Turkey as a young girl, obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University, currently lives in Oriental on the N.C. coast, and is an experienced investigator, author and lecturer. Besides having her own YouTube channel, she can also be seen on Gaia TV in ‘Beyond Belief with George Noory,’ in the T+E Canadian network documentary ‘Encounter: UFO,’ and in upcoming specials on ABC and The History Channel.

The event will take place at the Country Club of Salisbury, located at 747 Club Drive in Salisbury, on Jan. 11, with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the program at 8 p.m. Cost is $50 per person with first-timers permitted to attend without joining the organization. Reservation cut off is Jan. 8. For more information you may contact ESU president Gerry Wood at gerry@oldyorkllc.com.
