Emeritus director from Danville to Salisbury

SALISBURY — Fresh from his guest conducting role at the Danville Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas concert, the Salisbury Symphony’s esteemed music director emeritus, David Hagy, is making his way back home, reminiscent of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. His return is eagerly awaited as he prepares to direct the symphony’s spellbinding “Nutcracker” performances in collaboration with Piedmont Dance Theater. 

After captivating the Danville audience with a memorable Christmas concert that featured a children’s chorus and festive favorites, maestro Hagy is set to bring his touch to the Salisbury community as he has for over three decades. “The Nutcracker” performances, scheduled for Dec. 16 and 17 at Keppel Auditorium, Catawba College, promise to be a highlight of the holiday season. 

Under the baton of Hagy, the Salisbury Symphony will breathe life into Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, creating a backdrop for the dancers from Piedmont Dance Theatre. This production, scored to the holiday season, is renowned  for its ability to capture hearts and ignite imaginations year after year.
