Tuesday’s games …

SPENCER —  Sometimes the scorebook doesn’t tell the full story.

North Rowan coach Jason Causby pointed at Jo Jo Tarver, who scored five points, as the key guy in an 87-54 romp against Albemarle.

“Jo Jo was tremendous on defense and he pushed the ball on offense,” Causby said.

North (2-1) trailed early and led only 23-21 at halftime.

But the Cavaliers exploded for 64 points in the second half. North got control of the game in the third quarter and routed the Bulldogs (0-4) in the fourth.

Freshman Carter Williams scored 24 points. Amir Alexander scored 19. George Maxwell made two 3-pointers and scored 10, but sat down early in the second half after hurting a knee.

“Frustrating first half,” Causby said. “But we definitely settled into a second-half groove. We’re still trying to work out the kinks, trying to find the right buttons to push.”

Jayden Huneycutt scored 16 for Albemarle.
