MOUNT ULLA — One person was injured in the second crash on N.C. Highway 801 in as many weeks. Both crashes involved a driver who allegedly failed to stop at the Graham Road stop sign.

The latest crash occurred around 7 on Monday night and involved a tractor-trailer and a Cadillac SUV. The driver of the Cadillac was transport to Atrium Health with minor injuries, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol spokesman Ned Moultrie. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

The driver of the Cadillac was traveling north on Graham Road when they failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of N.C. 801, according to Moultrie. The car then collided with the tractor-trailer heading east on N.C. 801, causing both to travel off the road and onto the nearby railroad tracks.

The driver of the Cadillac was identified as Himanshu Patel, and Moultrie said that charges are pending against him for failure to stop at a stop sign.

West Rowan Volunteer Fire Department was forced to close both lanes of the highway for a few hours while responding to and clearing the crash.

On Nov. 27, a crash occurred at the same intersection. A BMW and Toyota collided after the driver of the Toyota ran the stop sign, according to a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper on the scene. The collision forced the BMW traveling west on N.C. 801 off of the road and trapped the driver under an abandoned building. The driver of the BMW was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after emergency responders rescued them.
