College women’s soccer: L-R a roadblock for Indians again

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Lenoir-Rhyne beat Catawba’s women’s soccer team 4-2 in Friday’s regional final.

The Bears (16-0-5) only got five shots on goal, but made them count.

Neve Duston, Elin Hansson and Ria Acton scored as the Bears took a 3-0 halftime lead.

After Acton converted on a PK to start the scoring in the second half, the Bears owned a 4-0 lead.

Morgan Delair and Helen Summerell scored for the Indians (19-3-1), who were ranked No. 1 nationally for a week.

Hannah Dunn and Alexah Fite had assists.

The Bears had won at Catawba in a match to decide the South Atlantic Conference  regular season championship.

Catawba and L-R had battled to a draw in the finals of the SAC tournament, with L-R awarded the championship based on a PK shootout.
