High school sports: All-CCC teams announced

Salisbury junior running back Jamal Rule has been named 1A/2A Central Carolina Conference Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for more than 200 yards per game and scoring 39 touchdowns, while Salisbury senior defensive end Jaden Warren, who posted 20 sacks, was named Lineman of the Year for the league.

CCC Coach of the Year honors went to former Catawba defensive back Charles Morman, who led a resurgence at Lexington. Josh Sophia, who steered North Rowan to 11 wins and a trip to the fourth round of the 1A playoffs, was runner-up in the voting by the league’s coaches.

Thomasville’s Dameyon Gathings was named CCC Defensive Player of the Year.

A whopping 47 players were named to the All-CCC squad, including 14 from the CCC champion Hornets and nine from the runner-up Cavaliers.
