High school basketball: Hornet boys lose in final seconds

HIGH POINT — Salisbury’s boys basketball team lost 59-58 on Saturday on a late 3-pointer.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, a Georgia private school with some size and a number of international players, edged the Hornets.

The Hornets (1-1) led 34-25 at halftime but didn’t shoot well and couldn’t hold off the Eagles (2-4) in a game played at Wesleyan Christian Academy.

Wake Forest recruit Juke Harris scored 30 points. He shot 12-for-27. He went 0-for-5 on 3s but was 6-for-7 at the foul line. Harris led the Hornets with seven rebounds and blocked two shots.

The Hornets were 5-for-20 on 3-pointers. Jonathan Ross made two.

Braylon Taylor scored 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting.

Bryce Dalton only scored three points, but had six assists and five steals.

The Hornets have played without Mike Geter so far. He was banged up some in the final football game.
