LAKELAND, Fla. — Catawba’s men’s basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Saint Leo squad on Saturday and suffered its first loss of the season.

Saint Lee shot 52.8 percent from the floor, including a devastating 10-for-19 from 3, and beat the Indians 89-75.

Saint Leo (4-2) also shot 23-for-26 from the foul line.

Catawba (2-1) didn’t have a good shooting day with 35.8 percent accuracy. The Indians had a huge advantage on the boards and pulled down 20 offensive rebounds, but just couldn’t capitalize often enough on second and third chances.

Catawba was hurt by foul trouble to standout Javeon Jones. He’s usually the leading scorer. He scored two points in 22 minutes before fouling out.

Kris Robinson stayed warm with four more 3-pointers and 19 points, but the only other Indian in double figures was Peyton Gerald with 15 points.

Saint Leo put five men in double figures.  Grant Disken, a sophomore from Kentucky, had a monster day with four 3-pointers and 34 points.

Catawba will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, Dec. 2, in an early South Atlantic Conference matchup with Lenoir-Rhyne.
