SALISBURY — Authorities have a woman in custody they believe was responsible for the Thursday morning bomb threat to the Rowan County Department of Social Services.
Matilda Jemelle Turner, 64, of Mooresville was arrested by the Mooresville Police Department and charged with communicating threats.
Turner reportedly left a threatening voicemail to shoot DSS employees and place a bomb inside the building.
Salisbury Police worked to clear the scene as employees were evacuated. They were unable to locate anything that would constitute a suspicious device or package.
The building remained closed until 10:30 a.m. when it was determined that the scene was secured. Original reporting indicated that the building was closed for the day.
