Letter: More solutions needed for climate change

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change just issued its latest report detailing the current state of the climate and where we are in dealing with the issue of climate change. According to the report we need to reach peak emissions within the next three years if we are to ensure a “livable future.”

As a parent of a small child, I am growing more concerned by the year that our government is not doing enough to address this existential crisis — quite literally the most important issue facing humanity right now.

Ted Budd, Richard Burr and Thom Tillis need to push for more solutions to this problem and work with their colleagues across the aisle to make progress before it’s too late. We may not be affected by the most severe consequences in our lifetimes, but our children and grandchildren certainly will. We must act while we still have time.
