Letter: Families Medical Leave Act should be expanded

My name is Brittney Robinson. I am a graduate student at Our Lady of the Lake University, working on my master’s degree in social work. I am submitting this op-ed for your approval and
publication in the Salisbury Post.

I believe that women should have paid maternity leave while they are out of work. Did you know most jobs do not offer women or their spouse paid medical leave after giving birth? Family Medical Leave Act is not enough. Families deserve to be paid during this period of not working. This bill needs to expand. It needs to give women paid leave and offer at least two weeks of paid leave to their spouse.
